What?! It's winter?!

Something strange is afoot. For the past three weeks, we've had absolutely gorgeous weather during the week and horribly cold weather on the weekends. There is something seriously wrong with this situation. Every time I get excited about a bike ride or some other outdoor activity I've planned for Friday or Saturday morning, I wake to find my computer warning me of impending coldness. And this weekend, it's saying ice as well. Well, boo to that. I want to ride my bike, sit out at the park and read some Faulkner, have a picnic, DO SOMETHING OUTSIDE!!! I may be planning on freezing my ass off next fall/winter, but I'm not there yet . . .
Okay, I've vented. Now on to some more exciting stuff. Last night, in a sudden fit of self-indulgence, I bought the first season of Grey's Anatomy. I didn't feel too bad at first, because it was only $20. But then I sat down and began watching it . . . for five hours. Great show. But why did I watch it for five hours straight. Beats me. I need to get a life. Or at least some sleep.
Tonight is the Mayan Late Night at the DMA. Should be cool. Mariachis, DJs, coffee, yoga . . . the list goes on. If you're going, let me know.
So ends this rather random post. Hopefully the next will be less so.

The trappings of a light semester

I think I may have finally found the flaw in my masterfully devised schedule for this semester. Because my only two classes that actually have writing assignments are both three-hour block classes and they both fall on the same day, the odds were against me from the beginning that I might have to turn stuff in for both classes on the same day.
Well, that day finally came. I had an essay on an essay due in Pueblo Modernism, and the first four writing assignments for AP 3300 are due later tonight. Short papers are evil. They seem so innocent, until they creep up in the planner and suddenly appear on the next day's to-do list. And it is incredibly difficult, by the way, to do a piece of art any justice when you only have a page and a half in which to analyze it. Sigh. But all is well. I just finished the final paper, and find myself with an entire hour to waste before class.
Now if only I would start my photography project that's due tomorrow afternoon . . .
Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day to those who might actually be celebrating this stupid holiday. Sorry guys, I already have a date, with my TV and a bar of chocolate.

Everyone has to have a first time . . .

...for blogging. I was once a regular Xanga poster, but I lost interest in it for some reason. Maybe it was the lack of exciting things in my life these last few months. Or maybe not - for many exciting things have happened. I could go into detail, but now is not the time. I'll save that for a day when I have nothing to write about.
Anyway, I decided to set this blog up in anticipation of my super-cool, super-long trip this summer/fall. Hopefully it will be useful. Mom and Grandma will find is so, at the very least.
Right now it's time for some weiner schnitzel at Richard's apartment, to be followed by Grey's Anatomy. Oh boy, oh boy!
