Frog looking out the window

Flyin high again

Flyin High

The flight from DFW to Frankfurt was surprisingly pleasant. The babies didn’t begin to cry until we began our descent, and I do believe I got at least 5 hours of sleep. That’s exciting considering I usually can’t sleep on planes. Hopefully (if I can stay awake until a reasonable hour) my sleep cycle won’t be too whacked out.

I have a small confession to make. I took a stowaway aboard the plane with me. Katharine gave me a little green Frog to keep me company and I couldn’t in good conscience leave him behind, even with my limited space. I think he enjoyed the flight though and wasn’t too much of a nuisance. He spent most of the flight sitting in my drink holder and looking out the window.

I did have a cognac after dinner, but other than that I decided to play it smart and not arrive in a foreign land completely smashed. Of course, we all know that I never get drunk.

Well, I should get up off the floor and go get some breakfast. Frog has kindly pointed out that we are sitting right next to the Goethe-Bar – Jordan would be so proud. Oh, and Iris, for some reason they sell Caipirinhas in the Frankfurt airport.

That's right, I'm on the plane right now...

I officially love Lufthansa. For a "nominal fee" I am connected to the internet as we fly above Newfoundland. It's too weird. I'm talking to Abram on AIM, and am about to call some of my peeps on Skype. I feel like I'm cheating.
Of course, I can only afford to do this for about an hour. But I couldn't resist the temptation. It's definitely a first for me.
I will of course update later once I get landed and settled in Prague.
Do Svidanya!

Wow

It's finally my last night in Dallas. Kind of sad though - having a party to see all my D-town friends one last time. Tear*.
My room is really barren right now. I have three piles that I must distribute tomorrow - one to Goodwill, one to the storage unit, and one to my car to go to Georgetown.
Sigh. Well, the party can't start without me so off I go...

So much to do...

...and so little time. It's difficult for me to comprehend the fact that I will be on a plane 5 weeks from tomorrow. For eight months. Hmmm. And how much stuff to I have to get done before then? Way too much.
Anyway, here is the tentative plan for May. I get on a plane to Prague (via Frankfurt) on May 4th. I'll hang out there for a few days, then hop on a train to Vienna. Gotta get me some of that wiener schnitzel! From there, I want to go to Budapest - I here it's pretty cool. Then I'll cross back over into Austria and hang out in Salzburg. Yay for the year of Mozart. Oh yeah, and that's where I'll pick up my Russian visa - without speaking German. It should be interesting. After that, it's off to Germany. I want to visit Munich and Berlin, and a bunch of little towns in between. Randi said she'd be in Wurzburg all summer, so maybe I'll visit there too. Then I'll take a ferry from Rostock to Hanko, Finland, and a train (or maybe another boat) from Helsinki to St. Petersburg. Whoa. It's gonna be a trip.
So if you see me between now and May 4th, I might resemble a chicken with its head cut off. Paperwork, paperwork, paperwork. And I have to figure out where I want to go to grad school. Hmmm. Am I supposed to keep my sanity too?
